Summer Theatre Programs

Triple Threat Toolbox 1: (ages 7-12* and 13-18)

Build your actor’s ‘toolbox’ through these intensives! Sessions 1 and 3 offer one** OR two week enrollment options! Learn everything you need to know about being a performer! With a myriad of workshops throughout the week(s) the participants will receive instruction in acting, singing, dancing, character development, scene study, improv, production and Shakespeare analysis. In addition, instruction in the “art of auditioning” will allow participants to experience the process of auditioning for a real-life production and help them develop the necessary skills and confidence to do so. Throughout the session, each participant will select appropriate audition pieces, complete an actor’s resume, and have his/her head-shot taken. These ‘tools of the trade’ will help you communicate, build your confidence, increase your imagination, and stretch your creativity! Working with fellow actors, learn to bring life to the words, character and script and literally take the page to the stage. A final workshop performance will give you the opportunity to prove you have all the necessary tools to fill your toolbox to the brim!

Musical Theatre Bootcamp: (ages 7-12 and 13-18)

Love to sing? Love to act? Love to dance? If so, then this two week session is the program for you! Learn what it takes to be involved in putting on a musical! Participants will partake in daily physical and vocal warm-ups, before being coached in acting, singing, and dance to prepare for the program ending musical production! Throughout the two weeks participants will have the opportunity to work with; * Directors – who will teach them essential skills like line delivery, act pacing, and voice projection. * Musical Directors – who will teach about singing, breath, rhythm and tone. * Choreographers – who will teach them how to move onstage, dance steps and floor patterns. Working with these professionals and experts will teach essential life skills such as public speaking, responsibility, commitment, confidence and team work. There will also be opportunities for kids interested in backstage theatre roles as opposed to performance. Interested participants will learn about and have the opportunity to run behind the scenes jobs such as hair, make-up, stage management, set design/construction, costuming, lighting, and sound. This is the perfect session for anyone aspiring to one day join an Oshawa Little Theatre production including the Youth Group! Keep an eye out for the announcement of this year’s session 2 show! This will be an exciting one!
