OLT Youth Group Orchestra Auditions

The Youth Theatre Orchestra Education Program is an auditioned training program at The Oshawa Little Theatre that is partnered with our longstanding and highly regarded Youth Theatre Education Training Program.

The orchestra program is a valuable learning experience for all student musicians, and will give students the opportunity to rehearse and meet with local Music Directors, shadow musicians in the main stage OLT shows, learn full musical scores, meet other performers and musicians in the local areas, and perform in the pit orchestra for a live production. The program will culminate in a full-length musical production performed by the OLT Youth Theatre Orchestra and the OLT Youth Theatre Education Training Program.

Depending on the applicant’s level, the musician may perform all, or some of, the musical numbers in the full-length production. Admission is based on the performance in your audition, as well as the instrumentation needed for that year’s musical production. These instruments we require this year are listed below. Also included are the approximate difficulty level of music for each instrument, which should be used as a minimum level of proficiency for auditioning.

PRODUCTION & VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES

Oshawa Little Theatre welcomes performers, creators, and volunteers at every level of experience. Whether you want to perform on stage, work behind the scenes, or help run productions, there are many ways to take part.

Auditions

OLT holds open auditions for each main stage production in our season. Auditions are open to both members and non members.

When auditions are announced you will find the details posted here.

Audition notices are also shared on our social media channels

Production & Volunteer Opportunities

Our shows and our theatre rely on many talented people beyond the performers on stage. OLT welcomes volunteers who want to develop skills in theatre production, or help out in other areas of the theatre:

Opportunities may include.

• Stage management
• Set construction and painting
• Lighting and sound operation
• Costume and props
• Makeup and hair
• Set design and technical design
• Front of house and ushering

Volunteering on a production is one of the best ways to learn how community theatre works and to meet others who share an interest in theatre.

Creative and Technical Roles

Directors, designers, and technical leads are invited to express interest in future productions. If you have experience in directing, choreography, musical direction, set design, lighting, sound, projections, or stage management, we would love to hear from you.
